How The Program Works
Consumer Welfare Alliance delivers practical, on-the-ground education through student-led local chapters that bring our curriculum directly into schools and community spaces. Trained college and high school leaders run interactive workshops in classrooms, clubs, and partner organizations, teaching participants how to understand their own consumer and financial behavior, recognize common manipulation tactics (from dark patterns and “limited-time” pressure to AI-driven personalization and pricing tricks), and apply simple decision tools in real life. Each session combines short lessons, real-world case studies, guided discussions, and hands-on activities—like spotting checkout traps, comparing true costs, building a spending plan, or evaluating credit and BNPL offers—so students leave with skills they can use immediately. Chapters also provide follow-up resources, community office hours, and locally tailored programming to meet the needs of the neighborhoods they serve, while staying aligned with national training standards and shared materials.
